"I stopped reading at the word "guy""

I remember when I was a teenager and I had spent the day at home watching American war films, Platoon and films like that. My old man came home from work and I was telling him about the films and the plot etc and, influenced by the dialogue in the films, I used the word "guy". It had been heard on the TV for years but our ilk never used that word and certainly not at home.

He never said anything about it but I remember the disgust on his face. Too disgusted to even acknowledge that I said it by picking me up on it. The disgust and shame lingered like a bad fart for a good ten minutes. Never used it again.

I hope the geezer/bloke/fella/lad outside the Carpenters was ok.

Hope the guy makes a full recovery.

We are more connected today.

For those of you old enough to remember, think how the bringing down of the WTC would have been reported in the UK in the days of BBC1/ITV/the Light Programme, The Third & Home services (& Radio Luxembourg) plus the morning & evening papers.

That's quite true Eusebiovic as I remember someone being stretched out of the North Bank back in the day who subsequentle died and very little was made of it

A few years back the title of this thread wouldn't be anything particularly noteworthy!

If it's heart or stroke related or something else then nobody likes to see that...
